After last weekend’s tractor shenanigans in Saint Jean de Sixt during the freestyle competition, La Clusaz put on a different type of competition (if you’re receiving this via email, you might need to click through to view):
The SFR Tour slopestyle competition has been coming to La Clusaz for years, and this year, they expanded the snow park to make the course longer.
The tricks were spectacular and the competitors came from all around the world. Here’s a photo I snapped from the chairlift on the way to the top of the course. If you squint, you might be able to see the competitor, mid jump, wearing green. The weather was perfect, and the course was well laid out.
As much as I should have enjoyed watching such a professional contest, the viewing areas were less well-planned. The chairlift was the best place to see the action because the barriers in the snow were both distant and lower down. It was like watching ants fling themselves off molehills.
Give me the tractor and its kid driver from St Jean de Sixt freestyle competition any day!
