No autumn in France this year?
Just a few weeks ago, I was in sandals and sun dresses, but last weekend, the weather in St Jean de Sixt got very cold. So cold, in fact, that it snowed heavily.
Pictured above is a photo I took of the ski resort of Le Grand Bornand with more than just its peaks covered in snow last weekend. The village was covered with snow for most of the day, as was La Clusaz.
The late, warm summer has delayed the onset of autumn, and the leaves in the trees are still mostly green.
The greenness of the grass and trees really stood out against the crisp, white snow when the sun came out the next day.
The postcard-blue sky was an added bonus.
I didn’t need to enhance this photo of the Forgeassoud side of Saint Jean de Sixt — the colours were really this intense!
Rain has since melted away much of the snow, but it provided a pretty scene that rarely happens so early in the year.
Meanwhile, Squeak the kitten also enjoyed the sunny day, experiencing snow for the first time.
After about 10 seconds of confusion, he bounded right in and didn’t want to come back inside until the snow was all melted. He might enjoy winter as much as the rest of us.

My cat loves to play in the snow as well. Though at 9 he’s seen it many times. Sadly no mountains here in central Illinois USA 🙂
Wow,those photos really are beautiful! I did wonder at first whether the second photo was processed! We’re also experiencing a late autumn and the trees are still green as can be.
It’s been similar here, but without the snow. From boiling to freezing with nothing in between!
wonky73, is he a fan of water in general? This kitten loves the shower, the bathtub and the toilet in equal measures!
Thanks, Mandy (although Mother Nature takes the credit for the photos this time – impossible to take a bad shot on that day).
Steph, is it back to balmy today? It’s gone warm and sunny again here. I’m not complaining! 😀
Wendy, he will go stand out in the rain. Jobu is a weird cat.
