Snow kills table tennis tables
Hidden under that pile of snow is the outdoor ping pong table in the village of Saint Jean de Sixt. I took this photo back in January, and we’ve had even more snow since then. There’s no point taking a photo now because it’s just one big mound of snow.
Back in January, the table had already started to buckle under the enormous weight of the snow. On a different angle, I could see that the wood had formed an arc in the middle, making any future game of table tennis more for a challenge. But can the table survive such a snowy winter? I think it’s damaged beyond repair. A sad time for the ping pong table of St Jean de Sixt, but thankfully, there’s another one under cover just around the corner. Let’s hope they move it out into the sunthis summer.
It’s funny and probably just an age thing but…I would never think of leaving tables (ping pong or otherwize) and chairs outside during the Winter. Here in our French village I walk past gardens, with the dog, and see some lovely looking garden furniture in wood and what may be plastic weave stuff that has to brave the weather. The tabletennis kit if warped will have to be replaced at some expense by the tax payers I suppose!
Lesley, it’s amazing what gets left outside here in winter. I guess they’re just used to replacing stuff! Also, I love that things don’t have to be bolted down here, although sometimes it would make sense that, since they’re not bolted down, they go indoors for winter.
Oh no! Poor ping pong tables!! This is a very cute post!
Thanks Emm!
Will the snow ever end so that there can be table tennis? It seems like this winter has lasted forever!
Spring is definitely in the air today! I think winter has used up all its coldness now…or has it?
