Attractive meal?

Skinned rabbitFirst of all, I’m very sorry about this image, but it wasn’t fair that my eyes should suffer it alone, and my blog has been a bit barren of images of late, so I’m sharing it. Once again, I have French junk mail to thank for finding me a topic for my blog.

What we have here is a whole rabbit, skinned, and apparently ready for cooking and eating, with pleasant garnish. But I can’t help but see a human backside on this bunny. My overactive imagination has been aided by the hidden head and lack of paws, which would have made this meat more identifiable as a dead rabbit instead of something resembling a human. Is it just me or is this actually quite gross?

  1. As soon as I saw this i thought “what a pert bottom” poor little piggy, then you said it was a rabbit and i thought poor little rabbit, then you said its trotters were missing, i am confused now. Now i am really confused because i have just scrolled up the page and it says paws ? oh well there’s one thing i have just had a good giggle on my lunch break. ( it didn’t put me off)

  2. Dawn, you’re spot on! I had typed trotters as those legs just look too long for a bunny and I guess I thought of a pig. I went back and edited it once I realised.

I’m glad the image didn’t put you off your lunch.

  3. I agree with Dawn, I thought cute human butt, and then a pig, then I was saden that it was so “raw”? Can’t say you’d find this yunk mail in aus, but aussies don’t quite “cope” with the all food is game???

  4. I have never been much tempted to eat a bunny… Less tempted now. It absolutely has a human look. Could I have known this all along and decided early on that bunnies are too human to ingest? Maybe. But from a meat lover’s point of view… it’s off limits for me.
